Snapchat is a social media platform that is very popular these days. It allows people to share photographs and videos with their friends. The specific feature of Snapchat is that when you share a photo or video with your friends, they disappear after they open it. If you share a story, also it disappears after 24 hours. Thus, you may want to save your videos or the videos you get from others. It’s straightforward to save Snapchat videos that you took. But if you are new to Snapchat, you might not have figured it out just yet. That’s quite normal. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.
You have to save the video before sending it to someone. Sounds pretty easy, right? However, what will you do if you want to download someone else’s videos? That’s okay. We will help you with that. Let’s see what you can do.
What Are Snapchat Videos?
Snapchat is a huge success. And fleeting nature of its Snaps hooked up most teens in the world with concerns about their privacy. If you send a video to someone on Snapchat, you can be sure that the video will destroy itself right after the recipient sees it. In that case, privacy is top-notch. However, there are some ways you can manipulate the system to download some of these Snaps without notifying the other person.
How to Save Your Own Snapchat Videos
If you want to save your own Snapchat videos, you can follow these steps;
- After taking a video on Snapchat, tap the down arrow button at the bottom left corner of your screen.
- It’ll save the video directly to your Camera Roll and your Memories on Snapchat.
- If it doesn’t save to Camera Roll, you can head over to your Snapchat settings.
- Then, tap on Memories and hit the option to save to Camera Roll and Memories. In case of any problems, you can contact Snapchat Support.
Saving Someone Else’s Snapchat Videos
If you have an iOS 11 and above iPhone, you can record your screen directly from your iPhone.
You can use this built-in feature, but you should be aware that when you do this, the person will be notified that you recorded their Snap.
- First, head over to the Control Center in settings.
- Then tap and press Customize Controls.
- Find the Screen recording below and Press the Green plus to add it to your Control Center.
- You’ll notice a little record circle when you open the control center.
- When you press that, it’ll start recording whatever happens on your screen with a 3-second countdown.
Other Methods
Another option you can consider to save Snapchat videos is to use another phone or camera to record. Although this method seems unconventional, it can get the job done. Although the video quality will drop, the person will never know that you made a copy. Also, a neat trick is to load Snap, turn on airplane mode, and then screenshot, so you can learn how to secretly take a screenshot on Snapchat or screen record. After you turn airplane mode off, the person will likely receive a notification, but sometimes it won’t send one. In the worst-case scenario, you can delay the notification.
Third-Party Apps
We don’t recommend using third-party apps that claim they can save videos you receive on Snapchat. It might not be safe as they usually ask for your Snapchat account password. So, proceed with caution if you try an app like that. It might not be worth it just to save Snap videos. Moreover, you may want to download an app that records your screen. You can try it, but you need to be careful again. We suggest you shouldn’t share your password with anyone and prioritize your privacy.
Conclusion – Different Methods for Different Purposes
Considering that a screen recording will notify the sender of the Snap, it may be a wise idea to use the other methods we listed above. That way, you can prevent the person from realizing you got a copy of the video they sent. However, the airplane mode method might not work as always. In that case, making a recording with another phone or camera may be a good idea. That method may cause you to lose some of the quality. However, it’s better to sacrifice a bit instead of getting discovered for your sneakiness. Also, you can try other third-party apps that claim to save videos for you. However, you should always be extra careful if you are planning to share your credentials with unreliable apps.
