What Do We Mean by a Copyright Claim?
A copyright is an intellectual property right for creators of content, music, artwork or images. YouTube considers using any content, image, artwork, music, song or lyrics without legal permission from the copyright holder, is a violation and the YouTuber will then receive a YouTube copyright claim.
Why Does YouTube Content Receive Copyright Claims?
Since the copyright, as we explained above, is a way to protect the creator’s rights, YouTube is obligated to protect these copyrighted materials.
Therefore, once you create a video, YouTube’s automated Content ID system scans it for copyrighted materials. Suppose any materials, such as music, video clips, images or any other tangible items are detected being used in your video without permission from the copyright holder. In that case, YouTube issues a copyright claim.
It can also be done manually by the creator or copyright holders directly. If they notice a usage of any intellectual content used without their permission, they file a YouTube claim against your video.
